Happy crafting!

Hello, long time no see! I'm happy to announce I wasn't run over by a train, mistakenly arrested, lost in the wilderness or eaten by runaway zoo tigers! Instead of lame excuses, here is a picture by hubby (concept and execution) and some useful (I hope) resources for all you doll artists :)

Recap: I like customized play dolls and fashions for them. Therefore, my searches for craft supplies are related to sewing, repainting, hair etc. I don't know much about art dolls or furniture/dollhouses, but some items, such as brushes, have uses for everyone! Here is everything I dug out of my bookmarks.

Supplies

All these shops, as far as I can remember, offer international shipping. Some of you may find better deals at local suppliers who ship internally. I put an asterisk (*) next to shops I've purchased from myself.

My Little Customs - doll hair and misc supplies.

RestoreDoll - rerooting and repainting supplies.

Retro Dolls - doll goodies with a focus on doll hair.

Dollyhair - microchips for industrial robot arms. Ha, just kidding, of course they sell dolly hair! Plus some repainting supplies.

Micromark - everything for model makers, and I mean everything! Quality paints, miniature brushes, tools, adhesives and more. Aerosols and other hazardous items are shipped only to continental US. This shop was recommended to me by a friend.

The Junky Spot - articulated doll bodies of many sizes, as well as BJD accessories and some repaint supplies.

Mimi Woo -  a variety of doll craft supplies, as well as complete BJDs and other dolls. Free shipping!

Born Pretty Store* - they say they are selling nail art supplies, but those are really doll supplies! Affordable mini brushes, rhinestones, studs, glue, nail files and buffers. Free shipping.
Some similar items can be found even cheaper in generic stores such as aliexpress* and ebay*.

Little Trimmings - for clothes: trims, fabrics, leather, tools...

Minidolls - miniature sewing supplies, metal accessories, patterns and even millinery (hat making) supplies!

Zipper That Doll - mini zippers, velcro and other solutions for removable doll clothes.

Volcano Arts - mini eyelets and tools for them

Quietfire Design - another place for tiny eyelets and other goodies.

Eyelet Outlet* - yet another shop for eyelets and brads. Great variety.

Jewelry Findings On Line - I can't not add this one simply because it's the only place where I saw mini cameos that don't cost an arm and a leg! For the record, mini cameos can be found on Etsy for 3-5$ a piece.

Learning resources

Legendary Tutorials - a forum where some of the most helpful people used to hang out. I found answers to all my doll questions and some awesome friends there!

My Froggy Stuff - the basic place to start all your doll crafts.

Fashion Doll Stylist - sewing patterns for 1:6 dolls and tips on clothes construction for any size of doll.

Fashion Doll Shoes - microchips for industrial... ah, never mind. Self-explanatory :)

This is all for now! I hope to revisit this post with more links and asterisks ^^
I'm also preparing another post with things that happened during my absence, there were a lot! You are free to contribute with more links (no USA-only though) and if you liked hubby's photo, tell me and I'll make him take pictures for some upcoming posts :)

Happy Holidays!

  2. Thank you for the links; it was a very good idea to post these! I may hire on my youngest daughter to do some face repainting for me in the new year. She's currently very successfully painting pewter minis only a few centimeters high, so I think she has the steady hands for the job.

    Happy New Year!
