28th World Doll Day

Today was the 28th World Doll Day, a holiday started by a doll enthusiast, Mildred Seeley, to celebrate our hobby. I found out about this not long ago thanks to Confessions of a Doll Collector's Daughter's post. She included Mildred's letter to her friends where she described how she wanted this day to be (go read it!). I'm happy that we get our own holiday, but I was caught very unprepared this year. I have nothing to give, not even words of wisdom a tutorial. The best I can do is raise awareness about the fact that yes, there is a day for us collectors. I'll shut up now and leave you with a bunch of more or less artistic (read: edited) photos of my doll shelves. Enjoy!

I hope to plan something better next year. What do you think it should be? What will you do? Let's discuss ideas for World Doll Day 2015!

  1. In the fifth picture, I love the look of the Draculaura that is looking into the camera, she makes that photo appear to be an actual candid shot!
Also, which doll is in your second to last photo? I love her eyes <3
    Wonderful post! :D

    1. Thank you! The doll you're asking about WAS a Fashion Fever Courtney before I dropped acetone on an eye and had to repaint the whole face. The face is a "Lara" sculpt (http://kattisdolls.net/facesI/fcGGLarAna98.htm) <- on this page you can see what the doll looked like. She's now one of my favourite dolls, in spite of many shortcomings of my repaint.

I noticed Draculaura's look when I was going around the shelf in search of interesting shots I could get without moving anything X) I think that picture is the best of all!

  2. Nice ... Can't decide what to do next year. I might do up a doll and do a giveaway I suppose ...

    1. That's a great idea! I want to wake up my forum friends and do something together, or organize a pay-it-forward kind of thing by myself.

  3. I'm thinking we all need to band together for next years World Doll Day and do something totally grand, too. Something that crosses over a lot of blogs. :)

    1. If you think of a good idea, be sure to share it ahead of time, I'm game. We could at least start one of those tags/surveys with photos, or if we get serious, gather a mailing list (physical mail) and exchange dolls.
